THE STUNNING V8 SUPERMODELS ROCK LEXMARK INDY 300!
It would be safe to say that the sensational and sexy Century Batteries V8 Supermodels made a lasting impression on the thousands of race goers lucky enough to get close to the girls while at the Lexmark Indy 300!
The models from all over Australia and New Zealand enjoyed a fun week and action packed time while in Surfers Paradise. They made a number of tumultuous appearances throughout the week but their popularity made it necessary to cut some of them short due to safety concerns created by the sheer number of admirers wanting to get up close to the girls. Nonetheless, millions of photos were taken and thousands of autographs written!
In between the numerous appearances, media functions, dinners and parties, the models were kept busy with professional photo shoots for the 2008 V8 Utes & Beauts Calendar. Most of these took place around the Gold Coast International Hotel where the V8 Ute pits were located. Naturally, the shoots attracted a lot of attention and sometimes if felt like the whole street was jam-packed with enthusiastic onlookers.
When the girls weren’t shooting or having a blast at attractions like Infinity, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Bungee Australia or ten pin bowling at Strike Bowling Bar, they hung out at Shooters Saloon Bar which became “V8 Supermodel Headquarters” for the week. Shooters hosted a cool welcome party on the Monday night while Thursday night saw the super hot swimwear and grid outfit judging taking place in front of a massive crowd with even more to come. Sopranos Restaurant at Broadbeach was the place to be on Tuesday night for a spectacular VIP dinner function where the models were treated to a number of delicious signature dishes.
Thursday night presented the models with an opportunity to get to know the V8 Ute racing drivers and teams when they attended the Official V8 Utes Cocktail Party at the Gold Coast International Hotel.
Saturday afternoon came and the V8 Supermodels took on their official duties as V8 Ute Grid Girls and history was made when the stunners lined up alongside the brutal V8 Utes on the Lexmark Indy 300 grid for the first time ever!
What a sight it was and the enthusiastic grandstand crowds certainly showed their appreciation in a very vocal way as the breeze ripped through the flags the girls were holding.
While the action on track might have wrapped up on Sunday afternoon, the V8 Supermodels were not finished with the Indy experience just yet. The models’ week on the Gold Coast culminated in a massive National Final at a packed Shooters on the Sunday night. The atmosphere was electric and at times, it was hard to hear yourself think inside the pumping club.
One girl after the other put on a dazzling show and it was a close call as the night’s active wear scores were added to the scores from the Thursday night judging. However, in the end it was petite blonde head turner Chenea Finn form the Bedroom Nightclub was crowned the first ever Century Batteries V8 Utes Grid Girl Of The Year. Second runner up was Domenica Grasso representing Barbados Niteclub in Bunbury, WA, while leggy brunette Narelle Polson representing Chasers Nightclub, VIC, grabbed the first runner-up position.
